Mexico City

It’s amazing despite having no job or real commitments I seem to struggle to find the time to write regular blog posts…

I’m now three cities behind in my posts – so I’ll attempt to reduce that to two by updating on our week in Mexico City.

The first thing we did upon landing in Mexico City (and checking into our amazing Airbnb – which was also incredible value) was head out for a late dinner. Getting good Mexican food in Australia is pretty hard – so we were both determined to hunt down plenty of Mexico food whilst in the city… and it didn’t disappoint at all…

Below is a photographic tour of some of our favourite meals during the week, including lunch at a restaurant run completely by students at the Culinary Institute of Mexico.

The food was simply fantastic in Mexico – and makes me wish we could attract more Mexican immigrants to bring this amazing culture and food into Australia!

Other than food – what did we do???

A lot of amazing Museums – Mexico City is an incredible hub for culture – and it has a massive selection of world class museums… we visited a number including the Museum of Tolerance, The Museo Soumaya a privately owned Museum housing the collection of one of the wealthiest men in Mexico (now deceased) completely FREE to enter and housing over 65,000 pieces, The Museum of Anthropology (incredible) and Frida Khalo’s house…

We also spent a large amount of time just wandering around the city – which despite its massive size – was actually fairly accessible and beautiful in many parts.

I loved that the city was so filled with colour both in its buildings and with what seemed like millions of Jacaranda trees in full bloom.

I’ll definitely return to Mexico – I loved the food, the deep investment in the Arts and Culture and the fantastic people who are amongst the friendliest and most helpful I’ve encountered anywhere I’ve travelled.
